Being able to hone her writing and reportage skills through this position has equipped her with a diverse skillset and given her the opportunity to network with and gain insight from industry professionals. Nia also has experience with digital marketing techniques and content creation through creating video content on UNC’s sports teams.
As a young Black woman in the sports media landscape, Nia continuously couples her educational and career goals with a fervor for cultivating opportunities for herself. She is a storyteller at heart and yearns to use her spirited personality and superb communication skills to successfully navigate and prosper within the sports media landscape. A firm believer in the power that comes with hard work and knowledge, Nia is further equipped with a fresh, analytical mind that makes her a valuable playmaker in the industry.
Originally from the Bronx, New York, Nia cultivated her love for writing at a young age and was a former track and field athlete. However, her interest in sports journalism peaked at Carolina, where she was exposed to collegiate athletics on an expansive scale. She sees value in promoting discussion about culture and society, with the dual objective of amplifying underrepresented voices. She wants to challenge others through meaningful discourse and will always bring creativity, energy, and intentionality to any workplace.
Nia also enjoys watching FormulaOne and is an avid Yankees and Knicks fan.
